FAQ: Homemade, Handmade Scented Candles
-
What types of wax do you use in your candles? Our candles are made from natural waxes, such as soy wax, coconut wax & vegetable wax. These waxes are eco-friendly, burn cleanly, and provide a long-lasting, even burn. They also enhance the fragrance throw, ensuring that the scent fills your space beautifully.
-
How do I choose the right candle scent for my home?Choosing the right scent depends on the mood and atmosphere you want to create. For relaxation, opt for calming scents like Lavender or Arabian Jasmine. For a burst of energy, choose invigorating scents like Citrus or Eucalyptus. Our guide on choosing the perfect candle scent can help you make the best choice.
-
How long should I burn my candle? For the best performance, we recommend burning your candle for 2-3 hours at a time. This allows the wax to melt evenly across the surface, preventing tunneling. Always trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each use to ensure a clean, even burn.
-
How can I make my candle last longer? To extend the life of your candle, follow these tips: Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn. Allow the candle to melt completely across the surface on the first burn to prevent tunneling. Avoid burning the candle for more than 3 hours at a time. Keep the candle away from drafts, as this can cause uneven burning.
-
Are your candles safe for pets and children? Our candles are made with natural ingredients and are free from harmful chemicals. However, always keep burning candles out of reach of pets and children to prevent accidents. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Do you offer custom scents or personalized candles?Yes, we offer custom scents and personalized candles for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and corporate events. Please contact us directly to discuss your specific needs and preferences.
-
Why is there black soot on the jar?Black soot can form if the wick is too long or if the candle is in a drafty area. To prevent soot, trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each burn and keep the candle away from drafts. If soot forms, you can wipe it off the jar with a damp cloth when the candle is cool and unlit.
-
Can I reuse the glass jars once the candle is finished?Absolutely! Our glass jars are perfect for repurposing. Once the candle is completely used up, clean out any remaining wax and wick, and you can use the jar for storage, as a vase, or even to hold a new candle.
-
What should I do if my candle is tunneling?Tunneling occurs when the candle burns down the center, leaving a ring of un-melted wax around the edges. To fix this, let the candle burn for a longer period (up to 3 hours) to allow the melt pool to reach the edges. You can also use a foil tent: wrap aluminum foil around the top of the candle, leaving a hole in the center, to help the wax melt evenly.
-
Are your candles eco-friendly?Yes, our candles are made with natural, sustainable materials such as soy wax, coconut wax, and vegetable wax. We use eco-friendly packaging and strive to minimize our environmental footprint. Our wicks are lead-free, and our fragrances are sourced responsibly.
-
How should I store my candles?Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. This helps maintain the integrity of the wax and fragrance. Keep the lid on your candle when not in use to prevent dust from settling on the surface.
-
Why do my candles have white patches?White patches, known as "frosting," are a natural characteristic of soy wax. This is a sign that your candle is made from natural ingredients and does not affect the performance or quality of the candle. Frosting is common in soy candles and can vary with temperature changes.
-
Why are there slight imperfections in my candle?Because our candles are handmade, slight imperfections such as small air bubbles or minor variations in color can occur. These imperfections do not affect the burn quality or fragrance of the candle. In fact, they add to the uniqueness and charm of a handmade product.
-
Why does the scent seem stronger or weaker at different times? The perceived strength of a candle's scent can vary based on factors like room size, ventilation, and personal sensitivity to fragrances. For a consistent scent experience, burn the candle in a smaller, enclosed space and ensure it's away from drafts.
-
What should I do if my candle wick is off-center?If the wick of your candle is off-center, it can cause uneven burning. Before lighting, gently adjust the wick back to the center using a wick trimmer or a pair of tweezers. Always do this when the candle is unlit and the wax is firm.
