Your Guide to Complete Candle Care - 1 (Jar Candles)

Glass jar candles are a popular choice due to their elegance and the protection the jar provides. Here are some essential tips to ensure you get the best experience from your glass jar candles:

1. Trim the Wick

  • Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This prevents excessive flame, soot, and uneven burning.

2. Allow a Full Melt Pool

  • On the first burn, let the candle melt across the entire surface to prevent tunneling. This can take a few hours, depending on the size of the candle.

3. Avoid Drafts

  • Keep your candle away from drafts, fans, or air conditioners to ensure an even burn and prevent uneven melting and smoking.

4. Burn for Limited Time

  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. This helps maintain the integrity of the glass and prevents overheating.

5. Monitor the Burn

  • Keep an eye on your burning candle. If the flame gets too high or flickers excessively, extinguish it, let it cool, trim the wick, and relight.

6. Safe Extinguishing

  • Use a snuffer to extinguish the candle. This minimizes smoke and keeps the wick centered.

7. Clean the Glass

  • If soot forms on the jar, wipe it off with a damp cloth when the candle is unlit and cool. This keeps the jar looking clean and ensures a clearer burn.

8. Use the Lid

  • When not in use, cover your candle with its lid to keep the fragrance fresh and prevent dust from settling on the wax.
